Bonnie Schuh was born and raised in Norfolk, Va. Her passion for dance started from an early age at Golden Slippers while her mother was a dance instructor there. She started dancing at the age of two and has not stopped since. During her younger years, she performed and competed on a dance competition team from age nine to 16. She started teaching at the age of 15 and a year later started choreographing tap, lyrical, and jazz dances for competitions and recitals.

Bonnie then attended Old Dominion University where she continued her study of dance while earning a Bachelor of Science degree and then a Master’s in Education degree all while teaching dance. She has taught at other dance studios but decided to make Golden Slippers her home and has been part of the staff for 17 years.

In 2012, Bonnie became ballet and tap certified through Dance Masters of America. Her philosophy for teaching is that every student can dance, but that it is more important to instill the passion for dance to make them lifelong dancers. When she is not teaching dance, she is busy being a military wife, schoolteacher, and loves spending time with her two children. One thing that may surprise people is that she recently went back to college to add a Special Education endorsement to her teaching license.
